This presentation focuses on the development of open water swimming abilities for triathletes. This will include the psychological development, and the design and structure of workouts for physical and technical development of triathletes, to be better in open water racing, specific to the demands of triathlon.
Jim Vance is the author of Triathlon 2.0, and Run With Power. He is also the Head Coach of Formula Endurance, a USA Triathlon High Performance Team in San Diego, CA. Jim is a Level 2 USAT Coach, a USAT Youth and Junior Coach, and is the Head Coach of Coronado High School Swim Team, where his team produced an All-American and broke 2 school records in his first year, one male and one female. Before arriving at Coronado, he was the Head Coach at University City High School, where in 2 seasons his teams set 7 new school records. Jim is also a former elite triathlete, with an ITU Age Group World Championship and XTERRA Amateur World Championship to his name, as well as an Ironman podium, with a 3rd place finish at Ironman Florida in 8:37:09. Jim has produced numerous Kona and 70.3 World Championship qualifiers, and three times has produced a Youth Elite USAT All-American.
USA Triathlon Coach Webinars
USA Triathlon offers a variety of webinars designed specifically for triathlon coaches. Each webinar is approximately 60 minutes in length. Webinars can be purchased for $34.99 each and come with the webinar recording, PowerPoint slides and a 10 question webinar exam. Coaches earn 1 USAT CEU upon passing a webinar exam. A passing score is 80% or higher. Please note, webinar purchases are nonrefundable.
